AREX+ 160 horizontal is a dual-flow mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery, designed for ceiling installation. This high-performance unit is engineered to provide the necessary airflow for air renewal in the environment and to recover heat from the exhausted air to transfer to the incoming air. The units, offering superior performance, are constructed with a sturdy sheet metal structure.

Each unit is equipped with:

  • Visual signal for dirty filters to be connected to the appropriate clean contact.
  • Hexagonal air-to-air heat exchanger, made of polystyrene, with counterflow and efficiency greater than 90% (TUV certified).
  • Anti-freeze thermostat to protect the heat exchanger.
  • Three-speed fans for continuous use, with reverse blades, integrated thermostat for over-temperature protection, and automatic restart.
  • Automatic free-cooling with air flow control.
  • External air filter and recovered air filter of class F7.

All units, compliant with European ERP directives and EN standards, are CE and DoP marked.

Application Field

The units are designed to perform the following functions in residential or small commercial environments:

  • Provide renewal air, drawn from outside the building, with a flow rate of up to 160 m³/h of fresh air,
  • Recover 90% of the heat from the stale air extracted from the rooms to heat (in winter) and cool (in summer) the new air before introducing it into the environment, with significant energy savings,
  • Filter the air coming from the outside and the air extracted from the rooms.

They can be installed in false ceilings to be connected to a ventilation network.

The air renewal capacity of each unit is 160 m³/h.

AREX+ 160 horizontal ensures an air renewal rate of 0.5 Volumes/h for rooms with a floor area of 150 m² (if the height is 2.80 m).

Operating Mode

The machine is equipped with a centrifugal fan with reverse blades, with a maintenance-free motor (1), with thermal overload protection, which draws the exhausted air and sends it outside. A second fan (2), with the same characteristics, draws fresh air from the outside and sends it into the rooms. Through two heat exchangers, in series with each other, (3) the heat contained in the exhausted air is recovered and transferred to the fresh air. The cross-flow heat exchangers are made of aluminum. The external air is filtered (4), as is the exhausted air extracted from the technical rooms (5). When the temperature of the outside air drops to the point of risking the formation of ice in the heat exchangers, the fans stop for the necessary time. A machine control unit (8) oversees the correct operation. The condensate that forms in the heat exchangers is collected in the basin (6) and sent to the drainage pipe (7).

The air flow rate can be varied, according to the needs, either manually or automatically. Automatic variation is possible with the installation of sensors capable of detecting odors and pollutants (optional).
